Rhonda McReynolds was selected as the Maury Middle School Teacher of the Year for her outstanding leadership and instructional excellence in 8th grade ELA. With eight years of teaching experience and six years in Tennessee public schools, Rhonda is known for building a strong culture of learning rooted in respect, relationships, and high expectations. Cera Morgan was selected as the Novice Teacher of the Year at Maury Middle School for her dedication and effectiveness as a 6th grade math teacher. Now in her second year at MMS, Cera is recognized for her intentional use of ongoing formative assessments, data debriefs, and clear proficiency goals to drive student learning. She creates an engaging classroom environment where students are encouraged to explain their thinking, learn from mistakes, and strive toward mastery of standards. Cera connects math concepts to real-world applications through project-based learning and community-focused activities, helping students see the relevance of math beyond the classroom. Her collaborative spirit, positive attitude, and commitment to student success exemplify the qualities of an exceptional Novice Teacher of the Year.

Carolyn Parrott, affectionately known as “Momma P,” was selected as Maury Middle School’s Staff Member of the Year for her decades of devoted service and welcoming presence. Principal Emily Gwinn shared, “Momma P is the definition of customer service,” praising her ability to greet every visitor with warmth and ensure a positive, supportive atmosphere throughout the school. Having dedicated nearly 30 years to MMS in roles including front office secretary, custodian, and bookkeeper, Momma P is truly the heart and hub of the school. Her deep knowledge, dependability, and genuine care for students, staff, and families make Maury Middle School feel like home to all who walk through its doors.
